In his opening remarks, Director General Prof. Said Aboud reiterated that NIMR, through the LIFE2Scale study, is delighted to be part of these efforts by contributing to the linkage of e-health platforms for the accelerated processing of HIV test results.
The workshop aimed to establish a seamless link between clinical and laboratory digital platforms, to rapidly obtain maternal HIV viral load and early infant diagnosis results, with a particular focus on the healthcare setting in Tanzania.
This initiative is a crucial part of the LIFE2Scale Study, a cluster randomized trial funded by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP). The study's objective is to enhance the identification of mother-infant pairs at high risk for vertical HIV transmission.
In this study, the NIMR - Mbeya Medical Research Center is collaborating with Instituto Nacional de Saúde (INS) Mozambique, the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the LMU University Hospital Munich (LMU), Germany, and the University of Liverpool, UK for a period of two years of study implementation.
NIMR continues to support the Tanzanian government in designing, implementing, and testing interventions that offer real-life solutions to everyday challenges in providing utmost health care services in the country.
